Borehole & Pump FAQs
Do you drill boreholes?
Our work starts once the hole is there. We install, commission and maintain the pump, rising main, storage, pressure system and reticulation, and we will advise on what your borehole's depth and yield mean for the equipment it needs.
My pump runs but the tank never fills. Why?
Usually one of four things. The borehole yield is lower than the pump's draw so it is running dry, the foot or non return valve is failing and letting water fall back, there is a leak in the rising main, or the pump has worn impellers. We test rather than guess, and we will tell you if the answer is a smaller pump rather than a bigger one.
Why does my pressure pump switch on and off constantly?
That is short cycling, and it is nearly always a pressure tank that has lost its air charge or has a failed bladder. It destroys pumps and pressure switches quickly. Recharging or replacing the vessel and resetting the switch normally solves it.
Can I run my borehole pump on solar?
Yes, and it is often the best value solar you can buy. A dedicated array drives the pump through the day and fills elevated storage, so you get water by gravity at night with no battery at all. Where you already have a hybrid system we can run the pump off it, but pumping into storage is usually cheaper.
Do you install irrigation for farms and greenhouses?
Yes. Mainlines, manifolds, valve assemblies, zone control and drip lines for field crops, greenhouses, nurseries and estates, fed from borehole and storage.
