Electrical Installations

New installations, rewires, industrial power and 11kV lines for homes, businesses, farms and factories across Harare.

New installations

We wire new buildings from first fix to handover. On a new build we prefer to be on site before the slab is poured, so the conduit, draw boxes and earthing go in with the reinforcement rather than being chased into finished walls later.

  • First fix conduit, sleeves and slab work
  • Distribution boards supplied and installed
  • Lighting, including recessed downlights and concealed LED
  • Power circuits, appliance points and geyser wiring
  • Earthing, surge protection and earth leakage protection
  • Inverter changeover and essential load boards
  • Gate motors, electric fence supply and outside lighting

Rewires and upgrades

Older Harare properties were wired for far less load than a modern household puts on them. Add a borehole pump, two geysers, air conditioning and an inverter to a 1980s board and something has to give.

We rewire in stages where a property is occupied, so you are not without power for days. Where a full rewire is not needed we will say so. Often the right fix is a new board, a proper earth and a few dedicated circuits.

Commercial and industrial

  • Three phase distribution and sub-mains
  • Motor control centres, starters and control panels
  • Machine connections, isolators and interlocks
  • Warehouse and factory high bay lighting
  • Emergency lighting and essential services boards
  • Power factor correction and metering
  • Planned maintenance and shutdown work

Industrial clients rarely have a week of downtime available. We plan the outages a job genuinely needs, agree them with you in advance, and work around your production for the rest.

11kV and medium voltage

We install and maintain 11kV and medium voltage overhead lines, transformer connections and site reticulation. This is the infrastructure that brings bulk supply to a farm, mine, industrial stand or new development.

  • 11kV and MV overhead line construction and extensions
  • Pole erection, stringing, stays and hardware
  • Transformer plinths, mounting and connection
  • Ring main units, switchgear and MV isolation
  • Reticulation from the transformer to distribution points
  • Line inspection, fault repair and maintenance

Medium voltage work is planned carefully. Permits and outages are arranged with the utility, the line is proved dead and earthed before anyone touches it, and the work is signed off before it is re-energised.

Fault finding and maintenance

A breaker that trips for no obvious reason always has a reason. Finding it takes instruments and method rather than replacing parts and hoping.

  • Earth leakage and nuisance tripping
  • Overload and voltage drop investigation
  • Board inspection and re-termination
  • Storm and surge damage repair
  • Scheduled maintenance for landlords and businesses

Doing the plumbing too? Electrical and plumbing compete for the same slab, chases and ceiling voids. Running both through one contractor removes the coordination problem. See plumbing and drainage.

Electrical FAQs

Do you work on new builds and existing properties?

Both. On new builds we prefer to start before the slab so the first fix conduit goes in with the reinforcement. On existing properties we handle rewires, board upgrades, extra circuits and fault repairs, staged so an occupied house is not without power for days.

My board keeps tripping. Is that a big job?

Usually not, but it needs diagnosing rather than guessing. Repeated tripping is nearly always earth leakage from one appliance or circuit, a damaged cable, or moisture. We find the fault with instruments and tell you the cost before replacing anything.

Can you install three phase power for machinery?

Yes. We install three phase distribution, sub-mains, isolators, starters and motor control centres for workshops, factories and farms, including connecting the plant itself.

Do you do 11kV work?

Yes. We work on 11kV and medium voltage overhead lines, transformer connections, switchgear and site reticulation, including new line construction for farms, mines and developments.

Will you work with my builder?

Yes. We work to the builder's programme, get the first fix in before the pour, and coordinate with plumbing so conduit and pipework are not competing for the same route. Where we are doing the plumbing too, that happens automatically.
